Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security has commenced roll-out of AGRIMA system, an application that provides a common platform for farmers to publish their current and potential produce in their respective districts.
Addressing the Ghanzi East Sub-council on Monday, chairperson Mr Gabriel Nguahoka said roll-out had been done to farmers in the Ghanzi region on one on one basis.
“So far registration has been approved for five farmers while four farmers were to be introduced to AGRIMA app,” he said.
He stated that traders were also able to register and access the app and view or purchase produce directly from farmers.
Furthermore, Mr Nguahoka stated that through the app, the ministry was also able to inform farmers and traders of restricted and non-restricted crops.
Regarding Horticulture Impact Accelerator subsidy fund, which is a newly reviewed programme for horticulture, he said it benefitted both new and existing projects, including those that had previously benefited under the ISPAAD horticulture support programme.
The programme, he said intended to assist beneficiaries on borehole equipping, connection of power (BPC or solar), pack-houses, irrigation equipment and production inputs up to the amount of P300 000, at different amounts per category. ends
