Online marketing critical for growth
14 Mar 2022
Online marketing is vital for selling products and it provides platform for business growth because of large clientele that has accesses to social media.
The Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment Sports and Culture Development Mr Buti Billy said this when addressing a joint meeting at Mmakanke lands with Lentsweletau / Mmopane MP, Ms Nnaniki Makwinja.
Mr Billy said the digital era required innovative minds where individuals could apply themselves to market their products and services.
“Empower yourselves with relevant online skills that would enable you to market your product without having to incur major advertising expenses,” he said.
He further called for mind-set change in order for individuals to realise their dreams and venture into businesses that could create employment opportunities as well as self-development.
“Let us come up with group viable business ideas that can impact on the lives of many Batswana, businesses that can operate through board of governors for clear decision making,”Mr Billy said.
Meanwhile, Ms Mkwinja, who is also the Assistant Minister of Basic Education, complained of what she termed poor facilitation of government programmes by the department of youth and community development officers in her constituency.
Ms Makwinja said she was not aware of P2 million allocated to constituencies for youth products annually. Mr Billy had earlier informed the meeting about such an allocation.
She expressed disappointment over poor service by MYSC officials in her constituency.
“I am disappointed that the said allocation has not benefited my constituency in the past three years because responsible individuals don’t have the zeal to go out from the comfort of their offices to familiarise youth with government programmes,” she said.
Meanwhile, Molepolole CEDA Branch Manager, Ms Ntebogang Galeboe called on individuals aspiring to venture into business to familiarise themselves with requirements.
An official from LEA in Molepolole, Mr Dirang Keboletse encouraged business operators to equip themselves with bookkeeping skills to determine whether their businesses were running at a loss or not.
He advised them to also understand their target market. Ends
