A total of 52 Kgatleng Brigade learners recently graduated from a three-week Academy for Women Entrepreneurial (AWE) programme designed to cultivate entrepreneurial skills.

When officiating at the graduation ceremony, US Ambassador to Botswana, Mr Craig Cloud said completion of the programme was born out of the women’s  zeal and commitment to empower themselves.

Ambassador Cloud stated that the programme continued to produce entrepreneurs of repute, who were able to create employment for other people.

He encouraged them to work hard to address unemployment by utilising the business skills they acquired from the programme.

The learners were provided with a WIFI-based mentorship session to complete a programme that helped learners to show their agility to complete tasks on time.

Now For Them Trust and AWE facilitator, Ms Sarah Mulwa said  the training allowed the learners  to display their creativity, create  room for networking and learn business knowledge requisites.

Bakgatla deputy kgosi, Kgosi Bana Sekai encouraged the graduands to stay away from drugs and make use of the skills they acquired.

He said the job market was flooded, hence  self-employment was a solution to unemployment.

For his part, Kgatleng Brigade principal, Mr Pholo Mosimanegape said, “This is a life-changing programme that you should make use of after you have completed your vocational training.”

Meanwhile, Mr Mosimanegape told his audience that the institution offered all construction courses such as Carpentry, Bricklaying and Plumbing, but lamented that the facility lacked resources. ENDS
