 Botswana Savings Bank (BSB) officially opened its doors to Kanye and surrounding areas residents on Thursday.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, BSB Board Chairman, Mr Kealeboga Molelowatladi said BSB recognised that, villages such as Kanye with phenomenal growth and upcoming developments, needed provision of accessible financial solutions.
He noted that Kanye was one of the largest villages in Botswana, with a lot of upcoming infrastructure and developments and had a population size of just over 45 000.
Mr Molelowatladi said smart branch, which was strategically located along the main road that runs through the village, made it even more convenient and accessible for the community.
BSB board Chairman explained that BSB wanted to grow its customer base and provide financial services in areas where there was no representation.
The event, he said marked the bank’s efforts to continue their renowned legacy of continuous financial inclusion outreach.
“BSB is committed to creating a conducive banking environment and to drive greater financial inclusion for its customers,” he added.
Mr Molelowatladi said the bank’s mandate was to mobilise affordable financial services and thereby providing reasonably priced financial solutions, mostly savings.
He highlighted that through its strategic partnership with Botswana Post, BSB’s outreach extended into the greater parts of Botswana where there were limited or no banking facilities.
The bank, he said was a committed partner, a key driver of the economy and a strategic stakeholder that had contributed significantly towards financial education and financial inclusion.
The chairman highlighted that the bank had an active Corporate Social Responsibility policy, which was committed to aiding education, arts, social welfare and sports development in Botswana, noting that the community would in the near future benefit from such.
He urged individuals and businesses in the district to take advantage of BSB’s affordable financial products.
“The bank has savings and investment products tailor-made for your needs and these can be of aid in uplifting your lives or growing your businesses, so do not be left out,” he added.
For his part, Bangwaketse Chief, Kgosi Malope II thanked BSB management for finding it fit to open a branch in Kanye, noting that the village needed their services.
 “Not only Kanye would benefit from the bank but the district at large.”ENDS
