Investment, trade and industry minister, Mr Mmusi Kgafela maintains that assisting the less privileged members of the society is the nucleus for restoring their dignity.
Officially opening Dinkgwana Chillas Grill and Pub in Mochudi, which opened its doors to the public on February 5, Minister Kgafela commended Ms Joy Setshedi, chairperson of Joy Foundation, for her initiatives geared at assisting the underprivileged.
Having witnessed how long it took for Ms Setshedi’s dream to arrive to fruition, Minister Kgafela also commended her for determination and zeal, to make Dinkgwana Chillas Grill and Pub a reality. “You always had a vision to see Kgatleng hosting a clinic with specialised services especially for cancer patients, which I also believe would someday become a reality. I am proud of you because I know how far you have come,” he said.
Ms Setshedi had for years envisioned a concept to have a place where she would host guests away from the village to relax as well as host special events.
“I envisioned a place perfect for days when one needs to hang out with friends away from the village, that is why I did an outdoor setting that allows you to enjoy some great scenery as well,” Ms Setshedi said.
Dinkgwana Chillas Grill and Pub is situated outside Diphonchi ward in the village and resembles a stress-free zone perfect for relaxing, with its traditional African decor.
Dinkgwana offers among others traditional cuisine, wide range of wines and other beverages, and has capability to offer all special food dishes as requested by clients.
Not only did Ms Setshedi envision the leisure place but she also has a dream to have her 11 hectare plot, in future, host a beehive of events including sporting activities, shopping mall, multi-residential and a private clinic.
“I already host social club football teams at my grounds and we have been holding each other’s hands over the years to grow sport in Kgatleng and groom young people to become renowned sport persons,” she said. She indicated that some clubs such as Sechaba, Lerole la Tsie, Liverpool and Back Pass had assisted her foundation to lend a helping hand to the less privileged children in Kgatleng, having donated toiletry hampers to children at Kgomodiatshaba and to Khurutshe pupils.
On the other hand, Kgatleng District Council chairperson, Mr Daniel Molokwe also commended the chill spot as a well-thought initiative suitable for hosting big events and a well-suited place for mature people when they needed to relax.
Mr Molokwe also said that the council was ready to assist business start-ups through ease of doing business reforms that government had since been rolled out. ENDS
