FNBB donates poultry house to Dkar primary

The First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) has donated poultry house project worth P55 000 to D’kar Primary School for income generation.

Speaking on behalf of the MP for Ghanzi North over the weekend, the Chairperson for Ghanzi East sub district council, Mr Gabriel Nguahoka said the project was set to help the school generate income, empower and instill knowledge that would help pupils venture into commercial farming in future.

He said the project would offer specialised poultry and business operating skills to the pupils and hopefully the skill be embedded in every house hold in D’kar through the children.

Mr Nguahoka further said besides exposing children to commercialised farming, the project sought to increase food sustainability as well as boost the economy.

The chairman applauded the FNBB for finding it fit to share its profits and give back to the community and commended Ghanzi branch staff members’ for  coming up with not only an innovative but sustainable project.

 ‘The school management and teachers make use of this precious donation.’

D’kar school head Ms Bontshetse Mothibi hailed the FNBB for the donation which would cultivate farming skills among the pupils.

The FNBB- Ghanzi branch Manager Ms Girlie Chezuba said the project was part of the bank’s community social responsibility to the community they operate in.

She noted that through the program the bank commit one per cent of their profit in the field of youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, education, sport and recreation, arts and culture and social welfare.

The branch manager also said that FNBB encouraged its staff to volunteer in activities to assist community in their locality.

Ms Chezuba added that they would ensure that their contribution was sustained to benefit upcoming generation.

Councilor for D’kar, Mr Xukuri Xukuri applauded FNBB for the donation he described as an investment.

His expectation was the D’kar pupils and the management to explore the project and improve its prospects. ENDS
