04 Feb 2022
Tutume Police are investigating suicide incident involving a 27-year-old man of Magapatona ward in Tutume.
In an interview with BOPA, Friday, the Station Commander Superintendent, Jerry Halahala, said preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased, who allegedly hung himself with a rope in the family house on Wednesday, had reportedly not been showing any suspicious signs.
He said the deceased did not leave anything that could explain reasons for taking his life, while his body was at Tutume Primary Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
He said this was worrisome as the current case was the third involving young people, since the beginning of this year.
Supt. Halahala added that just a week ago, a form two pupil aged 15 committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope in the family home in Nkange.
Meanwhile, he said they had embarked on consultations with community leadership including dikgosi, churches and parents to help in addressing this societal scourge. Ends
