A Francistown resident is admitted at  Sedilega Private Hospital after sustaining serious head injuries during an alleged house robbery that took place at his place of abode  in Block 4 on Friday in Francistown.

Acting station commander Alice Oabile said they received a report from another male who was later identified as the victim’s colleague around 8.30pm. “The victim who is an Indian had not shown up for work on that day which worried co-workers who decided to check up on him,” she said.

Upon arrival, she said colleagues found him unconscious on his bed heavily bleeding from the head. They rushed him to Francistown Academic Hospital and called police to report the incident.

She also said the report statesd that evidence of break-in as things were moved around and scattered around.

“Since we could not get any information from the victim, we were able to identify that some items from the house were missing through the victim’s housemate who was away at the time of the robbery,” she added.

Items reported missing included a television, laptop, cellphones and other valuable goods. From the investigation so far, Acting station commander said they found out that the suspects had jumped into the victim’s home through an unoccupied house next door and managed to enter the roof and move the tiles to gain access to the house.

Details on how the victim was injured are not yet known as the victim was still in critical condition.

“A 45-year-old motswana man residing in Block 7 has been arrested in connection with the robbery and currently helping police with investigation,” she added.

Ms Oabile encouraged Batswana to familiarise themselves with police clusters that could assist in fighting crime especially robbery and home invasions. She said this was the second robbery reported in her area since the beginning of the year.

To fight crime, she said the police would with relevant stakeholder resuscitate neighborhood watch clusters. She urged Batswana to join in and help keep criminals away from committing crimes which sometimes lead to loss of lives. ENDS
