Plans were underway to extradite a 27-year old murder suspect of Botapo ward in Mabutsane, who was arrested in Tosca, South Africa. 

Botswana Police Service deputy public relations officer, Senior Superintendent Near Bagali told BOPA in an interview that following the arrest, the suspect was subsequently arraigned before Boshoek magistrate court, in the North West province, of South Africa, for possession of a motor vehicle stolen outside South Africa and being in that country illegally. 

He is wanted in Botswana to answer for murder, arson and theft of a motor vehicle. The suspect is alleged to have stabbed a 26- year old Mabutsane-based female police constable with a sharp object at her family home in Botapo ward in the wee hours of December 7 and disappeared after the incident.

The victim, who sustained wounds above her right breast, was later certified dead at Mabutsane clinic. 

The suspect is further wanted for arson and theft of a motor vehicle, which incidents, were registered with Mabutsane police. He was expected to appear for mention at Boshoek magistrate court on Monday. Ends
