REMAND EXTENDED FOR MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING COUNTRYMAN

Kudakwashe Maziriri, the 35-year -old Zimbabwean accused of murdering a his countryman will remain behind bars as police investigations into the murder continue.
Chief Magistrate Gaseitsewe Toloki extended the remand today.
Maziriri, who hails from Harare, allegedly murdered Ezekiel Mutopa during a fight at Mountain Park Bar in Molepolole on Christmas Eve.
Preliminary investigations have shown that the deceased met his demise while trying to arbitrate in a misunderstanding between the accused and his girlfriend on the fateful night.
A fight ensued between the two men during which Maziriri allegedly used a brick to attack the victim, inflicting multiple and fatal head injuries.
When pleading for further remand, the prosecutor, assistant superintendent Uyapo Koketso said police investigations were at a preliminary stage as they were yet to contact witnesses.
Maziriri who opted to use Setswana as his preferred language, told the Court that he would in future seek the service of an attorney.
The accused is to appear again for mention on January 21. Ends
