NO NEW YEAR FREEDOM FOR MAN ACCUSED OF RAPING OWN SISTER
30 Dec 2021
A remand warrant for the Dikhutlaneng man, who has been charged with the rape of his biological sister has been extended, while police investigations continue.
Molepolole chief magistrate Gaseitsewe Toloki this morning accepted the prosecution’s plea to have the remand extended as investigations were ongoing, and because his immediate release would endanger the victim.
The magistrate shot down the accused’s request for bail, which was predicated on the fact he was a herdboy and needed to tend to his employer’s animals.
The 46-year-old is facing a single count each of incest and threat to kill.
On the first count, he is accused of uttering on December 05 at Dikutlaneng lands near Thamaga, the words, “Letsatsi le ke la gago la bofelo ke batla go fetsa le wena, ke go bolaya ke bo ke ipolaya, ” meaning he would kill his sister on the day he uttered the words and thereafter commit suicide.
On the second count, the man is accused of having carnal knowledge of his own sister, and by force.
The suspect is alleged to have followed his sister, who had gone to attend a church service around the same area.
He reportedly attacked the victim and pulled her to an abandoned hut in the bush where he kept her captive and raped her throughout the night, only releasing her the following day.
The accused will be brought before court for mention on January 17. Ends
