 A 25-year old man of Lodubeng ward in Kanye will appear before Kanye Magistrate Court on December 30 to answer for a single count of defilement.

In an interview, Sejelo police station commander, Superintendent Mmoloki Matlapeng said the young man reportedly defiled a 16-year-old Form Two pupil of the same ward on several occasions. The man was arrested on December 28 after the girl’s parents reported the matter.

In another incident, Supt Matlapeng a 25-year-old man of Phitshane cattlepost near Selokolela was arrested on December 28 after he poured petrol on his mother and set her alight. He said preliminary investigations indicated that the incident happened during a misunderstanding in the family.

He noted that the suspect is in police custody and will be arraigned at Kanye Magistrate Court this week, while his mother is recovering at Gaborone's Princess Marina Hospital.

Still in Kanye, police are investigating a case in which a 32-year-old man was found hanging from the rafters of his family house at Mosepele ward in the morning of December 28. Supt. Matlapeng said the deceased did not leave any suicide note and police investigations into the matter continue.

He urged members of the public to seek help from friends, family members or professionals when they have problems to avoid extreme and painful situations. Ends
