Masunga police investigate accident

Police in Masunga are investigating a case in which a mini bus carrying 13 passengers including the driver overturned between Gambula and Kalakamati in the morning of Dec 26.
Masunga station commander, Superintendent Mogomotsi Kwapa confirmed the incident, adding that three of the occupants escaped unhurt while the rest were treated from minor injuries and discharged the same day.
He explained that even though the cause of the accident was still unknown, preliminary police investigations revealed that the driver must have lost control before the mini bus rolled twice.
He said the vehicle was still under inspection to detect the cause of the accident.
On other issues, Superintendent Kwapa stated that the Christmas season was calm except for one case of unlawful wounding, which occurred on Chirstmas day.
He said a 38-year-old man of Masunga was in police custody after he reportedly stabbed another middle-aged man with a knife.
He said the suspect allegedly used a knife to cut across the victim’s stomach and the victim was rushed to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital in Francistown, unconscious.
He said apart from the incident, his policing area recorded no case of unbecoming behaviour.
He thanked the people of Masunga and surrounding areas for having conducted themselves in such a peaceful manner and further appealed to them to do the same during the new year celebrations.
The station commander of Tshesebe Police Station, Superintendent Amos Kekgathetse also indicated that the festive season was calm and peaceful.
Meanwhile, Masunga Primary Hospital was blessed with one boy, who was born on Christmas day, while Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital was blessed with four girls and four boys. Ends
