Tati police register two rape caces over Christmas

Acting station commander, Assistant Superintendent Kgathang Modise said in an incident that occurred on Christmas eve, a 38-year-old woman of Marobela reportedly left a football game between Gaborone United and Township Rollers with a 39-year-old man, who is suspected to have taken her to his Natale home and raped her.
According to ASP Modise, the two are suspected to have been intoxicated and when the woman found herself in the man’s house the following morning, she went to register a rape case with the police. She was taken to the hospital, where it was established that indeed penetration had taken place.
In another case, a 28-year-old woman of Makobo was attacked and raped by two Ndebele-speaking strangers while returning home from an entertainment spot. The two suspects are still at large.
Furthermore, ASP Modise said his office was investigating an accident in which a VW Golf and a Ford Ranger collided head-on along A1 Road. It was reported that the driver of the VW Golf lost control of the vehicle, which veered onto a wrong lane and collided with the ford Ranger. Both drivers have been admitted at the hospital, one with a thigh injury and the other with a foot injury.
In Francistown, the police station commander, Superintendent Lebalang Maniki says the streets were quiet as the city authorities had a joint operation with the Botswana Defence Force.
Supt Maniki, however, said there were a few incidents where some members of the community were drinking liquor in such prohibited areas as streets, cars or parking lots around town.
He said his office had registered some road traffic offences such as failure to obey traffic light or stop signs, which were at least 10 or more per day, adding that on Christmas day, a 41-year-old man driving a Mercedes Benz lost control of his vehicle at 9am, hit a building and died.
For his part, Kutlwano Police Station Commander, Supt. Neo Serumola said his office registered some cases of street robbery in which P3 000 and a cell phone were stolen.
In Tonota, Acting Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Ontibile Motladiile reported a minor accident that left a seven-year-old with a fracture on the arm. The child is still recuperating at Francistown’s Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.
Two bars were charged P1 000 each for disregarding operating hours. ENDS
