Francistown police are appealing to the public to help trace the mother or person who dumped the body of a three-year-old baby girl found wrapped in a bag at Francistown Bus Rank last week Wednesday.
Francistown Police Station Commander, Lebalang Maniki confirmed in an interview that the suspect was still at large while preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect might have killed the victim before putting her body in the bag.
He said the bag, which looked new was discovered by the police who were on patrol on that night.
He said upon opening the bag, they discovered the body of the baby girl who was later certified dead at Nyangabgwe Referral hospital.
A press release from Botswana Police Service Public Relations Unit states that the deceased was wrapped in a pink towel, light green fitted sheet, peach blanket, and was wearing a pink sweater written “BE KIND”.
It says the deceased was also wearing a grey tracksuit bottom, a pink vest and white sandals written “SPORT NUIXINGADO.” BOPA.
