The  Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on Tuesday added three more people to the accused persons list in the P8.5 million G4S-Block 6 robbery case.

The three are Mothusi Alfred Motomela, Thapelo Lekobe and Khumo Sakarea.

Out of the three new suspects in the case, Motomela and Lekobe are familiar faces as they have previously appeared before Broadhust Magistrate Court on a similar case. The duo together with two South African nationals were facing a charge of robbery.

They were alleged to have staged a cash heist and robbed G4S security of cash amounting to P2.3million, on October 13 at or near Turn Right Mall along Gabane road.

However, at Village Magistrate Court before chief magistrate, Dr Goodwill Makofi, Matomela and Lekobe appeared alongside Sakarea who was making his initial appearance.

Other accused persons in the matter are Moagabo Rando Pelontle and Thabano Ookeditse Ramaja, who have been on bail since September 09.

However, Motomela, Sakarea and Lekobe were remanded in custody until November 30, when their bail application would be argued before the court.

Dr Makofi remanded the trio after the prosecution argued that the accused had the propensity of committing the same crime.

The prosecution told the court that the suspects were arrested after another robbery, in which they robbed G4S Security about P2, 3 million, at a time when the police were looking for them in relation to the P8.5 million robbery case.

According to court records, the five accused persons are facing a single count of robbery.

They are said to have on or about August 06, 2021, near United Lounge Club in Block Six Shopping Complex in Gaborone, acting together in concert robbed G4S (Pty) LTD , a company duly incorporated and registered in Botswana a cash amounting to P8 510 000.

Immediately before such robbery, the accused are said to have threatened to use actual violence against one Odirile Bakani by pointing at him with an object that appeared to be a gun in order to obtain the said amount from G4S (Pty) Ltd Company.

The accused persons will appear for mention on November 23, 2021 while bail hearing for Matomela, Lekobe and Sakarea is scheduled for November 30, 2021. Ends
