Kgatleng capacitates business community
02 Nov 2021
Kgatleng District Council is set to capacitate the business community to enhance compliance to procurement requirements in an effort to promote wealth creation.
The council chairperson, Mr Daniel Molokwe said such a move was aimed at supporting producers within and outside Kgatleng District to increase sales volume by the year 2025 as aspired by the council’s strategic objective.
The chairperson was speaking at this year’s Kgatleng Expo recently.
He said this year’s theme; Propelling Creativity and Skills for Sustainable Livelihoods: A Virtual Experience, changed the traditional way of marketing to tap into new approaches of doing business.
He revealed that both the district Local Economic Assessment and Local Economic Development (LED) strategies had been completed and key issues affecting the business environment and other opportunities to be tapped on had been identified.
He further said the success of the LED strategy would assist the district in achieving rapid, inclusive and sustainable growth, economic diversification as well as poverty eradication.
Council secretary, Ms Boikhutso Matenge said the event was meant to provide an online platform for micro-entrepreneurs as well as encourage local producers to compete on the global market, hence virtual exposition. Ends
