Two of the people charged with robbing Horizon Deep Club of over P20 000 cash, a music mixer valued at P3 000 and air time vouchers valued at close to P3 000 among others in Mankgodi last year September have requested for bail.
They made the application before Chief Magistrate Faith Dlamini-Ngandu of Molepolole. The prosecutor, Mr Tshepo Magetse had asked the court for the postponement of the trial, saying he was informed by one of the accused, Lindy Pheresi that the fourth accused was sick. It was at that time that the first and second accused persons; Mothibedi Motoloki and Mothusi Popego requested for bail.
They raised concern that the postponement of the trial was going to inconvenience them since they had been languishing in jail. The fifth accused, Malefo Ikalafeng asked for a separation of trial saying the trial will never proceed as the fourth accused person missed court sessions on medical grounds.
Responding to the accused person’s application, Mr Magetse said the first and second accused persons were given bail initially but, they breached its conditions. Mr Magetse was advised by the court that the accused persons had to settle the initial balance of the conditional bail.
The condition was that each accused should deposit the sum of P2 000 with the court and each to provide a surety of the same amount. Mr Magetse in the end told the court that he was not in a position to oppose or concur with the accused persons’ pleas.
He requested that everything be dealt with once the accused persons had satisfied their bail conditions. The trial continues on January 20-21 next year. Ends
