Nkange youth showcase talent

Youth in the Nkange constituency showed their talents during constituency arts competitions held in Tutume recently.
Different groups presented themselves in cultural attire to show and disseminate information on the 16 days of activism against women and children. The initiative covered five categories: drama, traditional song and dance, traditional Instruments, poetry and dikhwaere.
In his welcoming remarks, regional youth officer from Serowe, Master Johnson said the purpose of that exercise was to unearth talent, particularly amongst the youth. He said the competitions kept youth meaningfully engaged so as to avoid engaging in drugs and other toxic substances.
Johnson said it also promoted artistic talent at local level and country wide, provided leisure activities to youth as well as helping in the fight against the HIV pandemic. He encouraged elderly people to join the competitions, adding that it would help eradicate poverty.
Under the traditional instruments, Ngwao Boswa group, Candile Tampson and Matthwes Magaga got positions one and got away with P2 500, whilst Nti Chifumika got position two and received P1 500.
The competitions started at ward level and the winners then competed at constituency level. Winners at ward level each received P3 000 and the second place winner got P1 000 prize money.
At the constituency level, winners got P5 000 whereas second place winners got P3 000 and the third position P2000. Prize money differed according to categories. Ends
