Goodhope experiences rise in house break-ins

The Goodhope policing area is reportedly experiencing a rise in house break-ins, especially of houses left unattended.
Goodhope police station commander, Mr Mogomotsi Kwapa observed in an interview that the criminals attacked in the wee hours and mainly targeted appliances such as television sets and laptops.
He said in some incidents, the criminals, suspected to be a syndicate of three men, stole items of clothing and anything of value.
Mr Kwapa said the gang terrorised residents of Goodhope and adjacent villages including far flung ones such as Digawana and Molapowabojang.
He divulged that they had, on numerous occasions, seen similar foot prints of three men and appealed to the community to help the police apprehend the criminals.
He further advised occupants of dwelling houses not to leave them unattended at any given time, because the thieves seemed to be targeting such.
On other issues, the station commander said they had charged around 28 individuals for none adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
Mr Kwapa said during one of their patrols on Saturday, they encountered a group of young people partying and playing loud music, in one of the homesteads in Kgoro village.
He said they charged three people for failure to wear masks, three others for failure to remain confined, and 16 for unlawful gathering, while the owner of the yard, where the party was held, was charged with causing noise and nuisance.
He appealed to the public to stop such illegal gatherings, saying curfew regulations and COVID-19 protocols in general, must be observed at all times, saying such irresponsible behaviour perpetuates the spread of the corona virus. Ends
