Miss Universe Botswana to compete in Russia
10 Oct 2013
Miss Universe Botswana director, Safie Sekgwa has assured the nation that the reigning Miss Universe Botswana, Tsaone Macheng will represent the country in Moscow Miss Universe pageant, despite the legal suit against her being crowned the 2013 queen.
He said his organsation was working around the clock to make sure they met the deadline and that all is in order before Macheng leaves for Russia.
Following the crowning of Macheng, who was also cited in the court papers as a respondent, some Miss Universe Botswana contestants filed a law suit with the High Court demanding nullification of the results as they felt procedures and agreements were violated.
Meanwhile Macheng is touring some parts of the country including her home village of Nshagashogwe addressing schools of the “I am a change” campaign which aims at motivating students to focus on their studies and avoid wayward behaviour.
He said his organisation was providing her with necessary support so that the impending case would not weigh down on her psychologically.
Macheng is expected to leave for Moscow on October 25, 2013 to represent the country at the 62nd Miss Universe pageant which will be held at Crocus City Hall on November 09, 2013. Preliminary competitions are to be held on November 05, 2013. Ends
