Prosecutor asks court to remand murder rape accused

23 May 2021

Detective Sergeant Tlhabologo Keorapetse of Tatitown police has urged the court to deny accused Modisakgotla Kebaganeditse bail despite that investigations were almost over in case in which he is charged with murder and rape.

Detective Sergeant Keorapetse said the accused was a habitual and regular customer of the police with a string of criminal cases.

The accused is suspected to have committed rape while on bail hence violating one of the bail conditions.

He said the accused was also  committed to the High Court where he was given bail for murder and rape cases and was further suspected to have committed another rape case while on bail.

Therefore, he noted that the condition of bail was that the accused should not be charged with any offence while on bail and surrender travelling documents, if any, to the Central police officer-in-charge.

The accused, he added, is expected not to interfere with prospective state witnesses, should report to Serowe police on the last day of every month between 730am and 430am and should attend all court sessions as and when required to do so.

The accused was to enter into his own recognisace in the sum of P2 000 and bring two citizen sureties who would each bind themselves in the sum of P2 000. ENDS
