Tafic moot privatisation
25 Apr 2021
Francistown based Tafic Sporting Club are looking for a partner with a suitable model to help privatise the club.
That was revealed by the club’s chairperson, Tebogo Toteng on the sidelines of the #FrancistownFirst mini launch organised by the club recently.
“The interested partner with the Expression of Interest meeting the requirements will be engaged,” Toteng said.
Francistown mayor, Godisang Radisigo as a result, challenged the club management to extensively market the club if they wanted to privatise it.
“Love Tafic, advertise it, no one will come from afar and love the team for you. Show people that it is can win and be proud of it,” he said.
Radisigo also encouraged the club, its supporters as well as city residents to buy from local small businesses, particularly in the COVID-19 pandemic era to support and keep them running.
That, he said was because the fight against the pandemic should not to be left solely for government, thus the need for individuals and other stakeholders to join the bandwagon in helping small businesses to survive.
“The city’s economy also depends on all residents as well as stakeholders working together in order for it to thrive and revive the city’s vibrancy,” he said.
It was on such backdrop that Tafic decided to purchase some products from local small businesses in effort to give them a boost.
On the other hand, Toteng said they would go around the city to find ways in which they could to assist businesses and expose them to the community.
Meanwhile, the #FrancistownFirst campaign, Toteng said would run until August when the league starts and would be in three phases, which would include profiling Francistown companies that had been supporting the club. Ends
