A thirty-one- year old woman of Manakanagoree ward in Nata has been arrested and arraigned before Nata Magistrate Court on Monday for the alleged murder of her boyfriend aged 37 of Maaloso ward in Nata.

In an interview with Nata police’  Assistant Superintendent Phetogo Philmon on yesterday, he said  investigations were still ongoing and it appeared that the two lovers had a misunderstanding earlier during the day.

Assistant Superintendent Philmon said the woman allegedly suspected that her boyfriend was cheating on her with another woman since she found them together.

According to Assistant Superintendent Philmon, the incident happened just before midnight on Friday, when a woman allegedly stabbed the boyfriend with a sharp object on the neck a few meters from his place.

Prior to the deceased being stabbed, said the police officer, the two were said to have exchanged bitter words.

He added that the man was rushed to Nata Clinic, where he was certified dead upon arrival and the police managed to recover the sharp object alleged to have been used in the murder incident.

The woman appeared before Nata Magistrate, Ms Keabetswe Majuta on Monday charged with murder and would appear before court again after 14 days.

Meanwhile, the suspect will remain in custody at Mahalapye Women Prison while police investigations continue. Ends
