06 Oct 2013
Comedy is gaining popularity as a form of entertainment, thanks to Comedy for the Nation of Botswana (COFONABO) also known as the Laff-A-Lot comedy crew.
As it has become a monthly feature, the Laff-A-Lot comedy crew hosted a show dubbed Three Kings Comedy, The show featured renowned comics, Mod, Ribcracker and Brooks. However, the night was made hilarious by the supporting acts, the likes of Legusty, P Master, Stockie, Jakes, Charles and even Paps who was the MC.
The headliner, Jakes from Maun stole the October 4 show with his funny jokes which kept people laughing throughout his time on stage. His jokes were predominantly sex explicit and stereotypes associated with different tribes of Botswana, which proved to be the audience’s favourite.
The comedian masters different tones or accents of various local tribes and even of different nationalities such as Zimbabwe, China and India. Usually the Laff-A-Lot crew brings a guest from South Africa to their monthly shows, but this time around they brought Maun-based Jakes.
Laff-A-Lot media liaison officer, Gaolathe Kediemetse said they brought Jakes to the show because he has been in the industry for a very long time now and he was very popular in the Maun area. He said Jakes has been a comedian since the era of popular comic Dignash.
Meanwhile, Gaolathe said their next show would feature females only, dubbed the Three Queens Comedy show. Ends
