Maun police have embarked on a massive manhunt for two unknown suspects, who robbed one of the local hardware stores of over P28 000 on Saturday.
Assistant superintendent, Tabengwa Magwama confirmed the incident in an interview and appealed to the community to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits.
He said that unknown men managed to cut the fence, tie up the security guards, moved them to a storeroom, before breaking into the hardware and taking money from the cabinet and disappeared.
He said the culprits reportedly attacked and threatened security guards with a weapon suspected to be a short gun to gain entry into the shop premises.
Assistant superintendent Magwama said the incident was reported by the shop supervisor, who got a tip off from security guards’ office following a sensor alert.
He appealed to the business community to refrain from keeping large sums of money at their premises.
Still in Maun, Assistant superintendent Magwama said a 12-year-old boy was found hanging from a Mophane tree at his parents’ home at Matshwane ward on February 25.
He said they received a report from the deceased’s father who was discovered the boy when he returned from work.
The deceased, he said was a standard six pupil at one of the local primary schools.
He said they suspect that the boy could have committed suicide, but he did not leave a note.
He appealed to parents to take care of their children and have open communication to enable free sharing of problems. Ends
