There is a decline in cases of non-compliance to COVID-19 regulations in Maun.
Assistant Superintendent Tabengwa Magwama said in an interview that they had recorded a total of 222 cases of people who violated curfew regulations as compared to the 433 registered during Christmas holidays.
He attributed the decrease to the government pronouncement to suspend the selling of alcohol noting that there were no more illegal gatherings.
Most of the people who did not adhere to the curfew, he said were motorists.
Ass. Supt Magwama also stated that they had charged a 61-year-old lady of Newtown ward in Maun for illegal brewing of traditional alcohol.
The police, he said, had intensified strategies to ensure all were complaint and urged the community to exercise patient and cooperate with law enforcement officers.
“We have beefed our officers in all our operations to manage the situation and ensure no one contravene the regulations and our efforts are producing positive results”, he added.
Ass. Supt. Magwama commended Maun community for taking the regulations seriously and adhering to them during the entire festive season.
He said they should appreciate that the regulations were meant to control the spread of coronavirus adding that if all could take the responsibility, the fight against the virus could be won. BOPA
