Kwena-a-Madiba traditional troupe is grappling with the loss of one of its members, Tshepang Lepelong, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend on New Year's Eve at Mahibitswane lands, about 20km north of Molepolole.
In an interview, the group’s manager, Deshie Kareng, said Lepelong (20) was a gifted dancer whose star was still rising. He said they were deeply saddened by his untimely death.
Kareng advised young people not to carry sharp objects with them because it could be tempting to want to use them when faced with confrontation and end up landing in trouble.
Thabo Gosalamang, a group member, said Lepelong’s demise came as a shock. He said he was a disciplined and a humble young man.
Lepelong joined Kwena-a-Madiba in 2013. The group has won several awards since the inception of the Presidential awards competitions.
Meanwhile, Molepolole police station commander, Supt Motlhaba Ramabya, confirmed in an interview that the police were investigating a murder incident that occurred on December 31, where a young man was allegedly stabbed to death with a sharp object at Mahibitswane lands.
The suspect has since been arrested and set to appear before a magistrate court in January 21. ENDS
