Atleast 70 people have been charged with non-compliance to curfew regulations on Christmas Day in Maun.
In an interview on December 26, Maun Police Station commander, Superintendent Chenamo Orateng said the 70 who were all motorists were charged with failure to comply with curfew regulations, which attracted a fine not exceeding P5 000.
This comes after government imposed a 7pm-4am curfew from December 24 to January 3.
Supt Orateng advised that people should comply with the curfew regulations by observing the stipulated time until the last set day.
Supt Orateng observed that the police were lenient on the people of Maun on the first day of the curfew as many people gave reasons that they were arriving from the cattle post and other places.
Meanwhile, Supt Orateng said the police were generally happy about the good conduct of the Maun community on Christmas Day. Ends
