Police in Maun are investigating a suspected suicide incident after a 39-year-old man was found hanging from a tree at Khwai on December 21.
Maun Police Station commander, Superintendent Chenamo Orateng said investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances leading to the suspected suicide. He said preliminary evidence gathered from family members could not establish any conflict that could have led to the suicide.
Supt Orateng said the deceased left the family residence in the morning and was shortly found hanging from a tree by some people at the Photographic Safari around 830am.
Still in Maun, Supt Orateng said the police were investigating the death a 66-year-old woman of Newtown ward, who succumbed to death on December 20 at Nyangabwe Hospital from injuries she sustained from a beating on November 26.
Prior to the passing on of the victim, Supt Orateng said a 27-year-old man, a nephew of the deceased woman, was apprehended and charged for unlawful wounding. He said the accused person had, on November 26, used a machete to assault his aunt and his uncle. ENDS
