Kanye Police Probe Death

13 Dec 2020

Sejelo police are investigating an incident in which a man aged between 50 and 60 years of Sebego Ward in Kanye was found motionless behind a bar at Taukobong Ward on December 9.

According to Sejelo police station commander Superintendent Mogomotsi Matlapeng, they received a report from a passerby in the morning and rushed the man to Kanye Seventh Day Adventist Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival. He said police investigations were still fresh and they were awaiting postmortem.

In another matter, Supt Matlapeng has appealed to members of the public to help them find 65-year old Selebaleng Kgotlaetsile of Morolong Ward in Moshana who went missing on December 4.

He said the old man, who is known by the name Ntoko, reportedly boarded a Kanye-Jwaneng combi enroute to Masoke lands and dropped off at Mosepele, and has not been seen since.

He said the man, who is between 1.3 and 1.5 metres tall was last seen wearing khaki trousers, black jacket and a green and yellow cap.

He appealed to members of the public to contact Sejelo police or any police station with any leads on the matter.

Mr Matlapeng also implored Batswana to be cautious during the festive season as fraudulent activities were on the rise.

He said they should avoid falling prey to people who go around obtaining properties by false pretenses and further report any suspicious behaviours.

He further advised people to avoid unnecessary travel during the upcoming holidays and adhere to protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“Let’s all take responsibility to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” he said. ENDS
