Two men of Sedie Ward in Maun, appeared before Maun Magistrate Keneilwe Kgoadi on one count of rape and another of robbery on November 30.

Particulars of the offence are that the accused, 31-year-old Onalethata Malema and 20-year-old Barulaganyi France, had sex with a certain woman without her consent on May 4, 2019 at Sanyedi ward in Maun.

The accused allegedly met the complainant at an entertainment spot one night and became acquaintances.

It is alleged that the accused persons and the complainant accompanied another friend  who was going somewhere and when they returned to the entertainment spot the accused persons attacked the complainant and raped her.

The two men pleaded not guilty to the count of rape.

On the second count of robbery,  they are accused of robbing the complainant a Huawei phone worth P1 800 after threatening her with a knife.

The two also pleaded not guilty to the second count of robbery.

Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) state prosecutor, Ms Bezi Seralanyane of said investigations into the matter were complete and the state would furnish the accused persons with witness statements and medical report.

The accused persons will appear for case management conference on January 25.

In another case, a 21 year-old man, Botshelo Nanjunga of Boseja ward in Maun appeared before Magistrate Kgoadi for defilement.

Particulars of the offence are that the accused person had sex with a girl aged below 16 years on June 15 2017 and on July 25, 2017.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the offence. ends
