Broadhurst Magistrate Court yesterday granted an order for the withdrawal of the financing terrorism charge against Wilhelmina ‘Butterfly’ Maswabi. 

Appearing before acting Southern Regional Magistrate, Mr Goodwill Makofi, state prosecutor Ms Priscilla Israel submitted an application for the withdrawal of the charge with liberty to reinstate it after completion of investigations.

Ms Israel said there was likelihood of a delay in the investigations since some evidence was to be gathered from sources outside the country.

She explained that private investigators had been engaged to assist in sourcing information from other countries hence the slow pace and delay in completing   investigations.

Magistrate Makofi therefore ordered the prosecution to file an amended charge sheet on or before November 20 stipulating the other two counts, to wit possession of unexplained property and false declaration of passports.  

The case is scheduled for mention on February 11. Ends
