11 Nov 2020
Police in Kasane are searching for two suspects involved in two separate rape incidents that took place on November 4 and 8.
In an interview recently, Superintendent James Maabong said in one incident, a five-year old girl was raped by an unknown suspect at her Plateau home while under the care of her grandmother.
He said when her mother returned home around 6p.m, she realised the girl had difficulty in relieving herself and when the mother examined her she found bruises on her private parts.
Supt Maabong said the mother reported the matter to the police who took the child to Kasane Primary Hospital for medical examination and it was established that she was raped.
Supt Maabong said the suspect was unknown and the grandmother indicated that she did not witness the incident nor see anybody who could be linked to the incident.
In another incident, Supt Maabong said a 36-year-old woman of Kgaphamadi was attacked and raped on November 8 around 1:25a.m while she was walking home from a shebeen.
He said the victim indicated that the suspect who was known to her, dragged her to the nearby incomplete house and raped her. Supt Maabong said the suspect was still at large and the police had launched a manhunt for him. ends
