Senior Magistrate Thapelo Buang has acquitted a 35-year-old man of Bosele ward in Ghanzi on charges of threat to kill.

However, he said the prosecution shall investigate defilement suspicions against the accused. 

Ntcoxo Thuiqara was accused of threatening to kill his girlfriend, Ms Dihah Swartz who later withdrew the matter.

She stated that she did not want to deny the father of her children an opportunity to raise them.

The same reasons were also stressed by the accused, adding that he wanted his children to eat healthy and raised well. 

During the proceedings, Magistrate Buang quizzed Ms Swartz (21) about the age of the first child, whom she said was seven years old. 

“When you had your first child, the complainant was 13 or 14 years old and that constitutes an offence. I trust you are aware of that. I remind you that it is an offence. She was a child under the age of 16 years,” Magistrate Buang said.

Thuiqara told the court that he met the complainant when she had dropped out from school and that she could have had a boyfriend before him. ends
