Event to help promote local products

27 Oct 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has taught many people the importance of flexibility and adapting to the moment.

Olorato Ledikwe, a youth entrepreneur specialising in events planning has taken advantage of that development by coming up with strategies that will work to her advantage as the creative industry is slowly adjusting to the new normal.

Ledikwe, who was the brains behind the then-popular Sunday Ultimate Session will on Saturday host an outdoor event Chill, Sip and Shop at Duranta Gardens in Gaborone.

She said the idea was to have an event that would adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols as well as promote local businesses and services.

Chill, Sip and Shop is an outdoor event and one-stop meet promoting local businesses and products. “Unlike Sunday Ultimate Session which was performance-based, this event is more of an experience-based where local products and services will be on display for patrons to experience and purchase,” stated Ledikwe.

Ledikwe assured her patrons of safety with regard to COVID-19 protocols, adding that their admission policy was No Mask, No Entry, and that security would be at work to ensure that social distancing is adhered to.

The event organizer promised patrons a chilled afternoon with various stalls displaying food, drinks, merchandises and other local products that would be on sale.S

he said as the economy and the entertainment industry was slowly opening, Chill, Sip and Shop would give customers something exciting as a reminder of what the industry offers.

“Our people need something fresh, exciting and this is exactly that, as a build-up to bigger and full capacity events,” Ledikwe charged.

Ledikwe appealed to her fellow showbiz promoters for unison and cohesion so that they come with better ideas and solutions to improve the industry. Ends
