President Masisi continues to drive country vision towards 2036

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi is committed to driving the country towards achieving Vision 2036 goal of building a wealthy nation.

It is on such backdrop that President Masisi continued to donate rams and bucks to local farmers around the country.

On October 24, Thonkana Okatswa, 62 of Mmasebele lands was among those who received a ram as well as a box containing antibiotics from the President.

Handing over the ram to Ms Okatswa, President Masisi said government’s priority was to promote food security hence his initiative to improve small stock production in the country.

The President also explained that his initiative was thus crucial because it also aimed at uplifting lives of local farmers.“Even nearby farms will have the opportunity to improve their breed either through mating or buying young rams from beneficiaries,” he added.

President Masisi further emphasised the need to improve quality of both sheep and goats as well as increase their numbers in order to keep up with demand for the international market that Botswana recently secured.

He also indicated that Botswana’s meat was the most sought after because of its quality.

Ambassadors Patricia Pego-Guerra of Cuba, Mr Henry Mukonoweshuru of Zimbabwe and Laurence Beau of France accompanied President Masisi.

The President appreciated them for their efforts in assisting Botswana in her development endeavours.Meanwhile, some Mmasebele lands residents also received food baskets. ends
