Molepolole Magistrate Court has remanded in custody murder accused, Oabile Sekwati.
The accused was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Lesedi Rammapodi on October 23.
Sekwati (31) of Ntlolengwae ward in Molepolole reportedly killed a 37-year-old Kweneng District Council employee, Ms Mpho Steven, early last week.
The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent Uyapo Koketso, pleaded for the accused’s remand arguing that the case was still fresh and required thorough investigations.
“We need to locate possible witnesses who fled their homes because they were traumatised by the horrific incident that took place within their vicinity,” said ASP Koketso.
The accused allegedly chased and shot at the vehicle that was driven by Ms Steven, who was in company of a male colleague.
The male companion fled the scene after the vehicle they were travelling in hit a wall of Lekgwapheng Police Post where they had intended to seek refuge.
The injured Ms Stephen was inside the vehicle where the accused fired another shot.
The accused person’s next court appearance was scheduled for November 26. Ends
