A 42-year-old woman of Lekgwapa lands in the outskirts of Mogobane, Ms Dimpho Tshukudu broke into tears of joy on Friday Ocotber 16 when she received a ram from President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi.
Ms Tshukudu is one of the beneficiaries of President Masisi’s initiative of donating small stock to upcoming farmers.
“Kealeboga Tautona, o mphile se se neng se ntatlhegetse. God bless you,” She said after embracing the young ram with hugs and kisses.
Ms Tshukudu, who is keeping goats and sheep, said her last ram, which she had bought in October last year, died in January, without even having produced its first offspring.
When handing over the donation, President Masisi commended Ms Tshukudu for her determination despite the challenges.
He said his act was borne out of love and desire to see livelihoods improve.
He said the donation, if taken care of, would enable Ms Tshukudu to accrue wealth and ultimately help others because she too had been helped.
Dr Masisi said Batswana in their aspirations for the country, wished for prosperity for all, something which he said he was driving. The Minister of Agriculture Development and Food Security, Mr Karabo Gare said the noble gesture by President Masisi would enable the country to attain Vision 2036.
He pleaded with Batswana to own Vision 2036 and drive it.
Ramotswa Member of Parliament, Mr Lefoko Moagi encouraged Ms Tshukudu to diversify her farming.
He said integrated farming would help her to grow and make more income.
Ms Tshukudu, who was once an auto mechanic in one of the leading local auto dealers, was assisted by the Department of Gender Affairs in 2017 with 63 does and a ram, some of which she exchanged to get goats and developed the farm. ENDS
