Tonota Police are investigating two suicide cases.
Station Commander, Superintendent Oteng Ngada said in one of the incidents, a 35-year-old man of Makalaadikgabo settlements in the outskirts of Mandunyane village was found dead in his shack on October 7.
Superintendent Ngada said although the cause of death had not been ascertained, preliminary police investigations revealed that the deceased might have committed suicide, because prior to his death, he reportedly told his sister to take care of his children.
He said the deceased had been on the run after he chopped and stabbed his ex-girlfriend with an axe and a knife respectively.
Supt. Ngada explained that the police were still awaiting the post-mortem, which would determine the cause of death.
In another incident that occurred in October 10, Superintendent Ngada said a 25-year-old man of Mandunyane was found hanging from the rafters of his house. He said the deceased, who was discovered by his mother, did not leave a suicide note.
Meanwhile, Supt Ngada stated that the police had not yet arrested a man who was reported to be raping other men in Tonota.
He stated that so far, the police had recorded two rape cases, with the first one recorded at the beginning of the year, whilst the second one was reported in October.
He disclosed that the man reportedly carries dangerous weapons, which he used to threaten his victims before raping them. ENDS
