Team impress sensei

Union Federation of African Karate (UFAK) referee and member of the Botswana Karate Association Referees Commission, Sensei Lucas Rakgampu has hailed the performance of the Ghanzi Kufukan karate team during a recent grading session.
Speaking after the session, Sensei Rakgampu said despite COVID-19, the team exhibited skill and that it was evident they were going far.
“They are determined and eager to learn and it is like they have been training, but they just started a few weeks ago,” he noted.
He advised the karatekas to holistically practice karate rather than focusing on grading alone. He noted that karate could mold them into responsible citizens, adding that it was a discipline sport and could help them to be physically and mentally fit .
Sensei Rakgampu regretted that COVID-19 had affected the karate calendar, noting that it had denied them the opportunity to attend the Zambia Fallen Heroes karate tournament and hosting the Letlhakane open championship.
For his part, Ghanzi Kufukan karate instructor, Sensei Lesedi Morobise said it was encouraging to have a team of youthful committed karatekas.
However, he lamented the lack of training equipment and appealed to potential sponsors to invest their money in the sport. He said sponsoring karate could help sell their products and services as it attracted the media.
He challenged the Ghanzi community and business leaders to consider sponsoring them. Ends
