21 Sep 2020
A 27-year-old man of Mmaseetsele ward in Moshupa has told Kanye Magistrate Court that he would conduct his defence in a defilement case he is facing.
Keaboka Mogapinyana pleaded not guilty to having unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16 at Lepapa ward in Moshupa on December 27.
The prosecutor, Inspector Cyril Rampefe of Moshupa police, said the state was ready to set trial dates and served the accused person with five witness statements and a medical report.
He also indicated that they did not have any objection to admitting the accused to bail.
Consequently, Magistrate Daniel Nkau granted the accused person bail on condition that he binded himself with P1 000, would not interfer with state witnesses, did not commit any offence and attended all court sessions as required.
The case was scheduled for a case management conference on December 7 to confirm February 11, 2021 as the trial date. Ends
