Moatlhodi Nnyana to pay P40 000 compensation

 Tonota MP, Pono Moatlhodi and co-accused Kebitsang Nnyana have agreed to pay P40 000 as compensation to the victim whom they are alleged to have assaulted in 2019.

This was said by the State Prosecutor, Ms Gaone Miller when the two appeared for mention on September 15 to update court on the issue of reconciliation.

Ms Miller informed court that the two had agreed to pay the amount in installments starting with P15 000, which would be confirmed to court when the duo appear for another mention on September 22.

The rest will be paid in installments of P12 500 until they complete payment of the agreed compensation.

Defence Lawyer, Mr Martin Maeba also confirmed the agreement and said the first installment would be made on September 22 when the two appeared for mention.
Francistown Chief Magistrate, Ms Chief Faith Dlamini-Ngandu ordered that the complainant would have to take the witness stand on September 22 to confirm the reconciliation as alleged by state and defence.
Ms Dlamini-Ngandu also ordered for the availability of a social worker to assist the court to arrive at a decision.
According the charge sheet, Moatlhodi and Nnyana subjected a certain Kesego Olekantse to inhuman treatment in 2019 in Tonota by assaulting him after the child stole mangoes from Moatlhodi’s yard.
They are also alleged to thereafter unleashed a dog to bite Kesego causing him puncture wounds and bruises on his face and body contrary to the Children’s Act. ENDS
