Tutume Police appeal for help to arrest robbery suspects

Police are appealing to the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of three unknown men who robbed a 61 year-old  man and his wife, 50, of Magapatona ward in Tutume on Saturday night.

In an interview on Monday Tutume police station commander Superintendent Jerry Halahala explained that the three men, armed with batons, forced themselves into the couple’s house through the kitchen door.

Superintendent Halahala added the that criminals beat the couple together with their housekeeper and tied them with a rope.

He said the culprits demanded the keys to the couple’s Toyota land cruiser vehicle, took away a flat screen television set and two cellphones before driving away with the vehicle.

Supt Halahala noted that after receiving the report, the police responded swiftly with the help of Botswana Defence Force officers stationed at Maitengwe.

He explained that they managed to recover the stolen vehicle and goods, which amounted to over P400 000.

Supt Halahala said the vehicle was found stuck in Maitengwe River along Botswana and Zimbabwe border fence while the suspects were nowhere to be found.

He said investigations were ongoing and he appealed for help assist to find the culprits. ENDS
