Defence halts Molapisi bail application pending investigations

Defence team in Moabi Molapisi’s murder case has halted application for bail pending finalisation of investigations.
Defence attorney, Mr Clifford Foroma of Foroma Attorneys and Legal Practices informed Maun Magistrate Court on September 3 that an agreement was reached with the prosecution for bail application to be withdrawn temporarily.
He said the application for bail would be launched after the prosecution had completed investigations.
The prosecutor, Mr Modibedi Tladi from Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), concurred with the defence team on the move to suspend bail application.
Mr Tladi assured the court that the prosecution was making progress on the investigations and therefore pleaded with the court to further remand the accused person in custody.
The 40-year-old Molapisi, appeared before Maun magistrate, Ms Keneilwe Kgoadi, charged with one count of murder.
The accused person reportedly murdered his mother, Ms Kehetwe Molapisi, on June 28 at her home at Matlapana ward in Maun.
Particulars of the offence were that Molapisi broke and entered his mother’s bedroom with an intent to commit murder.
A blood stained axe that was suspected to have been used to commit the crime was allegedly found by the police in the bedroom that was could have been opened with force.
The accused person was further remanded in custody and would mention on September 17. ends
