Ndjavera forensic report expected September 20
19 Sep 2013
A defence lawyer representing Thebe Ndjavera has informed the court that forensic affidavit concerning the case is expected on September 20.
The defence lawyer, Mr Kabelo Gaonyadiwe said the state counsel, Mr Chimbisane Sechele who was not in court, informed him that the forensic officer was on leave and expected back on duty September 19, therefore the affidavit could be availed a day later.
He further informed the court of the defence’s intention to send Ndjavera for a psychiatric re-evaluation once the forensic affidavit was available. He however said he did not consult the state about his intention.
Francistown Magistrate Sijabuliso Siziba advised the defence to consult with the state on its intention to send the accused for a re-evaluation to avoid making it a one-sided decision. He set another mention for October 2. The purpose of the mention was to appraise the court on when the affidavit from the forensic laboratory could be expected.
Ndjavera, 22, is accused of murdering his two toddler daughters, aged two and four years in Somerset Location in February this year using a sharp instrument.
