Sankoyo Bush Bucks Football Club continues to enjoy support from companies in the tourism industry.
Recently, the club partnered with is a multi-award winning safari company, Great Plains Conservation, which showed interest to aid the club which was relegated from the premier league in 2018.
Another company, Belmond Safari has come on board this week to assist the club in an effort to contribute to the development of sport in the district.
The company operates three unique safari camps in the Okavango Delta.
On Wednesday, the company donated sport equipment worth P7 800 to the club following their request early this year.
The donations comprised of training kits, soccer boots, gloves and balls among others.
Speaking during the handing over of the donations, Belmond community liaison manager, Alice Motlogelwa said Sankoyo’s request came at the right time as the company was doing its best to reach out to the communities as part of their social corporate responsibility.
This time around, she said they saw it fit to channel their assistance to sports activities for the first time and believed that was the beginning of their journey with Sankoyo.
The donation, she said would make a difference as they were looking forward to the team to grow and display excellent performance.
Sankoyo Busch Bucks chairperson, Itumeleng Kelebetseng hailed Belmond Safari for the noble gesture noting that many companies were struggling to generate income due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic adding that it was pleasing as some continued to plough back to the community during tough times.
The team, he said was struggling with resources and assured the company that the donation would be put to good use and help the team prepare for the coming season.
Kelebetseng hoped that once the tourism industry recovers, Belmond Safari would do more to support their club.
Ngurungu as Sankoyo is affectionately known, was relegated to North Debswana First Division League and it finished the league in position six.
Through assistance from safari companies, management is hopeful that the team would bounce back to the elite premier league. The team had been struggling to secure sponsorship and relied much from Sankoyo Tshwaragano Development Trust assistance since its existence. ENDS
