Air Botswana continues service post lockdown

24 Aug 2020

Air Botswana is continuing its domestic operations post Greater Gaborone lockdown, which was lifted on August 14.

Communications manager at the airline, Ms Kefilwe Kebafetotse told BOPA in an interview that the airline was continuing with both passenger and cargo flights to destinations such as Kasane, Maun and Francistown.

Ms Kebafetotse said the airline first resumed its operations on July 17, after a three-month suspension, due to COVID-19 restrictions, with only the Gaborone/Maun route and later added the Kasane and Francistown routes.

She said the airline was currently operating local flights only, as the borders remained closed for non-essential travel.

She said safety remained at the heart of the airline’s business, adding that Air Botswana had a commendable safety record as well as operational standards.

She said the airline had put health and safety protocols that were commensurate with the COVID-19 realities in place.

Ms Kebafetotse said in furtherance of the fight to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline encouraged patrons to take advantage of its contactless booking and ticketing mechanisms.

She advised them to visit the airline’s website or call its call centre for remote assistance with travel arrangements. ends
