Residents apprehend terror gang
18 Sep 2013
In the first ever massive crackdown on gangsters that have terrorised Ramotswa for seven months, residents recently arrested several members of the syndicate. Majority of those arrested were aged between 19 and 35 years, according to Ramotswa police chief, Superintendent Sarah Gabathuse.
“The first three members were arrested on September 12 while others were arrested the following day,” she said. She said the suspects, who were all men, had already appeared before the magistrate court and were remanded in custody. They would appear again on September 27.
Superintendent Gabathuse said the suspects were on bail for other offences when they were arrested. Superintendent Gabathuse applauded the Ramotswa community for working with them.
“I would like to commend the public for a job well done because they are the ones who arrested the first group of suspects and brought them to the police station,” she said.
Superintendent Gabathuse said some members of the syndicate were still at large, but said they would soon be arrested. She encouraged the public to join neighbourhood watch groups, which she said were effective in crime prevention. Ends
