 Preparations for the burial of the late Mochudi Centre Chiefs veteran attacking middle fielder, Victor ‘Two Minutes’ Kowa are ongoing.

The deceased is still to be repatriated from South Africa to Botswana and due COVID-19 protocols, there will be some delay.

Sexton, the brother to the late  Kowa, confirmed the sad news in a telephonic interview.

He said that Victor, known as Two Minutes in football circles, started his football career in 1962 in South Africa, where he played for Junior Reds Tigers as starters and proceeded to professional debut when playing for   Nigel United Bucanners in 1969.

“He joined Mochudi Centre Chiefs in 1979 and he played for the team until his retirement in late 80,” he added

Pollen Makgane, Mochudi Centre Chiefs technical director said many would remember him as number 11 currently known as attacking middle fielder.

Victor was an experienced middle fielder with dribbling skills and was able to direct and past dribble opponent by both arms and legs.

“Victor played alongside Teenage Podile, Michael Davids, Ignitions Mokone, Micro Modise Phetlhe to mention a few,” he said.

Former Mochudi Rovers player Kwapeng Modikwe described Victor Kowa as an experienced forward who was fearless when facing his opponent in the pitch.

He said Victor started his professional football in South Africa until he met Mochudi Centre Chiefs in the late 70s, where he played number 11.

“I will never forget the Mainstay Cup final against Township Rollers at the National Stadium when we hammered Rollers 4-0, 1983”, he said.

The late Kowa retired from professional football in 1983 and became an advisor and supporter for Mochudi Centre Chiefs. He died at the at the age of 70 and is survived by two sons and a daughter. Ends
